Maureen Ward-Caisse

Maureen Ward-Caisse, a proud member of Ermineskin Cree Nation, was born and raised in Maskwacis, Alberta. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta (2007) and a Master of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University (2021).


Maureen dedicated over a decade to Neyaskweyahk Group of Companies Inc. (NGCI), the corporate division of Ermineskin Cree Nation. She joined NGCI in 2013 and steadily advanced, becoming Vice President of Operations in 2014 before serving as President and Chief Executive Officer from April 2020 to May 2024. During her leadership, Maureen played a central role in advancing NGCI’s business growth and championing renewable energy projects, including the development and expansion of the Sundancer Solar Farm. Her leadership helped position NGCI as a leader in sustainable development among First Nations businesses.


Since stepping down from her role at NGCI, Maureen has launched her own consulting practice, where she leverages her extensive experience in corporate governance, economic development, and community-focused business strategy to support Indigenous businesses and initiatives. Committed to giving back, Maureen is passionate about mentoring emerging Indigenous leaders, fostering economic self-sufficiency, and creating pathways for future generations to thrive within their communities.
